Examinations

Students can be prepared for examinations from Preliminary grade to Licentiate Practice of Music and Grade one to Licentiate Theory of Music.

Students can be prepared to sit for any exams from the following examining bodies:

Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB)

Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts Limited (ANZCA)

Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music

Australian Guild of Music and Speech (AGMS)

Secondary students undertaking Year 11 and 12 VCE music can also be prepared for the VCE examinations.  Students can prepare for the following VCE subjects:

VCE Music Performance Units 1-2 (Solo)

VCE Music Performance Units 3-4 (Solo)

It is important to note that exams are not necessarily the most appropriate course of study for all students.  Where it is felt that exams are appropriate, it is essential that the exam candidates are able to practice, and available for practice and possible tuition during school holidays and public holidays, if such breaks precede the exam period.

Students must take their exam preparation seriously, since exam standards are very high and competition is fierce.

Exam candidates are required to pay an exam entrance fee to the examining body.  These fees are not refundable, unless you present a doctor’s certificate, in which case you will receive a part refund or credit towards the next exam.  Exam fees are to be paid before the entries are sent.  If writing a cheque, make it payable to Richard Kant, as total fees must be paid with one cheque only.
